SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 25

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to make an
interim study of the Public Employees Insurance Agency.
Whereas, The Senate, during the 1998 legislative session,
recognized the seriousness of the problems that exists in relation
to public employees insurance, and, through its wisdom, created the
Select Committee on Public Employees' Insurance. Such committee
was to have the jurisdiction of legislative proposals affecting the
insurance requirements and needs of the employees of the state of
West Virginia; and
Whereas, It is the responsibility of the Legislature to see to
the needs of West Virginia's public employees; and
Whereas, The urgency of the problems that exist with public
employees insurance cannot be fully examined within the allotted
sixty days of a Regular Session of the Legislature; therefore, be
it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
requested to review, examine and study during the interim of the
Legislature, the Public Employees Insurance Agency and its effects
on the public employees of West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the interim study of the Public
Employees Insurance Agency is to make a report of its findings,
conclusions and recommendations, together with a draft of any
legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations to the
Legislature at the beginning the 1999 Regular Session; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this
study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be
paid from the legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on
Ggovernment and Ffinance.
